Climb Ben Rinnes
This is a great day out from Forres. A really scenic drive through woods and across beautiful hills and moors to the highest hill in this part of Moray, Ben Rinnes at 2775 feet or 840 metres provides the best view point in this part of Scotland.
On a clear day you can see eight counties from summit's granite tors including The Cairngorms clearly visible to the west especially with snow on them. Most of the Moray coast can be seen too. This mountain is a wonderful introduction to hillwalking being comparatively easy to ascend. If combined with an early start around 8.30 there would be time to visit the attractive town of nearby Arberlour for lunch where there is a choice of eateries, The Old Pantry, The Arberlour Hotel, The Spey Kitchen and The Coffee House and Bistro.
We can also visit the Speyside Way Exhibition Centre and The Craigellachie Bridge built by Thomas Telford in 1814 before returning to Forres.
The price of this excursion for four people would be only £20.00 each excluding lunch costs. For three people the cost would still be a very reasonable £27.00 per person. Price negotiable for two, please ask. We can provide a packed lunch at our usual rate if our starting time dictates a picnic on the mountain, very pleasant on a fine day.
