MEDITATION

Would you like to learn to meditate? The physiological and psychological benefits of meditation are well known, well documented and meditation at a basic level will help us to be happier, healthier and more integrated human beings.

Buddhist meditation, a tradition going back 2500 years to the historical Buddha Shakyamuni, combines meditation with a philosophical system and path for living ethically and developing insight into the nature of reality.

Buddhists of all schools go for refuge to The Three Jewels. That is to say, The Buddha, The Dharma and The Sangha. At its simplest this means to The Buddha as a teacher and exemplar, to The Dharma which means teachings or path and to The Sangha which is the spiritual community of men and woman who follow this path.

If you are drawn to an exploration of the Buddhist path there are several Buddhist traditions in the Moray area however our Sangha does not confine itself to one tradition (Hinayana, Mahayana etc.)  but draws from the core teachings of all. This spiritual community is The Western Buddhist Order and together with the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order (FWBO) and Trailoka Bauddha Mahasangha Sahayaka Gana (the Indian wing of the FWBO) it is an international Buddhist movement.
